  introduction

Most horses suffer from dental problems unless treated by an equine dentist within the last 12 months. The vast majority of horse owners are unaware of the problems and/or discomforts caused to their animals due to uneven wear and sharp edges to their teeth.

Symptoms

Some of the more severe problems that may occur due to poor dental care are colic, choke and weight loss. Other behaviour such as bucking, head shaking, and head shyness can also be due to dental problems. However, it is not always the case that horses will show symptoms. A lot of horses live with mild discomforts which can be easily treated by a qualified equine dentist.
