Horse's teeth as sometimes prone to irregular wear. This can affect all the animal's teeth but in particular the molars and the incisors. If the teeth wear irregularly they become unbalanced and hinder the horse's chewing/grinding ability. In some cases the horse can have great difficulty in eating and chewing food.

Step mouth and wave mouth (shown below) are two kinds of irregular tooth wear.
